From 2003 became disciple of Abbot Shi Yong Xin, started practicing Shaolin Martial arts and Chan. Accomplished over 50 sets of Shaolin forms which include varieties of weapons, animal forms, sparring, hard Qigong, Drunken fist, Double hooks, with specialize in Shaolin Staff form.
2004-2011 being part of the Shaolin Temple International Cultural Exchange group, the mission is to share Shaolin Culture in the form of Shaolin Kung-Fu performance in many countries around the world.
2016 founded Shaolin Temple Kung-Fu Center in Rancho Cucamonga, California. Under delegation of Venerable Master Shi Yong Xin, the abbot of Shaolin Temple in China.
2008-2011 participated in highly successful theatrical production “Sutra”, a collaboration between dancer-choreographers Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Turner Prize-winning sculptor Antony Gormley and Shaolin Temple monks group. The live show reflected the cultural exchange between modern dance and tradition Shaolin Kung-Fu. It toured in many countries around the world including the U.S.
Master Shi Yan Yi, a 34th generation Shaolin Monk, began studied literature and martial arts since childhood. In 2003, he became a disciple of Abbot Shi Yong Xin and started his training at the Song Shan Shaolin Temple China with dedication in following Buddhist doctrine and hours long training daily in Shaolin Tradition “Chan” and “Kung-Fu” for many years.
His objective is passing down the wisdoms of Shaolin Chan to the community through the practice of Kung-Fu.
Background About Shi Yanyi
2011 -2016 was appointed by Abbot Shi Yong Xin to assist Master Shi Yanxu at Shaolin Temple Cultural Center located at Temple City, California. Since then, he has trained students of all ages and all levels with passions to share Shaolin Culture in light of helping students’ to improve their martial arts practice experiences and skills.
